The famous Kollywood actor and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, Vijayakanth passed away from COVID-19, at the age of 71 in the morning. Vijayakanth tested positive for COVID-19 after seeking care for health issues at a private hospital in Chennai last month. He was then taken to MIOT International Hospital in Chennai a few days ago.
When Vijayakanth first entered the movie business in 1979, he built his name for himself as a villain in Inikkum Ilamai. Having acted in more than 150 films, he gained popularity. He became extremely well-known thanks to roles in notable movies like Chinna Gounder, Vaidegi Kathirundal, Vallarasu, Vanathai Pola, Captain Prabakaran, Ulavu Thurai, Ramana, Captain Prabhakaran, Sivappu Malli, Amman Kovil Kizhakale, and others.
Known for thriller audiences with his nationalist and action-packed movies, Vijayakanth left the film business in 2015 intending to serve the public interest. He then entered politics.
Celebrities expressed their condolences to his family over his passing.
