Maamannan Movie Review
Maamannan (vadivelu), an MLA from an oppressed community in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district, began her career as a party cadre. A casteist attack by members of the locally dominant group left Maamannan’s son Athiveeran “Veera” emotionally and physically traumatized, and as a result, he and his father are no longer close. Veera practices Adimurai and is Maamannan’s son. Rathnavelu, a member of the party’s main community, is the district secretary. Due to Maamannan’s brazen and confrontational demeanor, Rathnavelu and he are frequently at odds. Rathnavelu lashes out at them after an incident and after observing his coworkers and other party members disrespecting his father Sundaram. This causes Maamannan and Veera to change from being pawns to participants.
